OUR STORY

We live with the unwavering belief that when Jesus placed His church next to the Gates of Hell He meant it. Just as He spent His days not serving the healthy, but the sick, that we are at our best when we do this same.  Below is a timeline of how we have sought to live that out.

OUR MISSION

Redefining Compassionate Service

We exist to challenge the status quo of charity by nurturing long-term relationships and sustainable efforts. Our mission is to equip individuals with the skills and mindset necessary to truly impact the lives of those who are suffering. We believe that true service is rooted in both Mishpat (a justice that sets things right) and Hesed (a gritty, loyal with you to the end kind of love), guiding our approach as we raise up laborers committed to the hard work of healing and hope.

Our Journey So Far

2001

Ministry for Kid's in Hard Places Attempt 1- Fergus Falls, MN

Jeff was pastoring a little church in a sleepy little town for Fergus Falls, MN. Around 100 African American people had just moved out of the urban areas of Minneapolis hoping to find a safer life for their families in Fergus. One Sunday one of the mom's showed up to church and asked Jeff point blank "Are my kind welcome here?" The week prior she had attended a church that informed her black people weren't welcome. Additionally someone spray painted on the side of their apartment "Go home N*****." So Jeff and this mom decided to start out a weekly program for the kids so they always knew they were welcome. It didn't last long. Many of the families moved out due to the hatred they received. But it was the first attempt to form a ministry like this.

THE HEART AWAKENED

This was that watershed Summer when that little girl showed up to VBS and Jeff got an inside look into a home that was riddled with abuse and carnage. He wasn't sure how to respond, but he knew he had to do something.
